First, you’ll need to create a new label for the message(s) you want to filter from your main Inbox. We’ll use the term “Eventbrite” as an example.

Create a New Label

  1. On your computer, go to Gmail.
  2. On the left-hand side of your Inbox, scroll down, then click More.

  3. Click Create new label.

  4. Name your label. Since we want to filter out Eventbrite-specific emails, we’ll name the label “Eventbrite.”

  5. Click Create.

Once you have the new Label created, you’ll then need to create a Filter that will automatically move Eventbrite-related emails under the Eventbrite label, and out of your main Inbox.

Create a New Filter

  1. Open Gmail.
  2. In the search box at the top of your Inbox, click the down arrow.

  3. To keep your Inbox from being flooded with Eventbrite notifications, we’ll filter out the email address that the notifications originate from since we know it (orders@eventbrite.com). However, you could also filter with the word “Eventbrite” by adding it in the Subject field – doing this will catch everything with that specific term anywhere in the Subject line of any email coming in. To check that the search worked correctly, see what emails show up by clicking Search.

  4. At the bottom of the search window, click Create filter.
  5. Choose what you’d like the filter to do. With these, use the Apply the label function, and choose the new Eventbrite label you set up in the previous section.

  6. Click Create filter.

Going forward, all notifications you get from this email address (or that include this term if you used that option) should now be automatically routed to the Eventbrite label, and not into your main Inbox.

Note: When you create a filter to forward messages, only new messages will be affected. Additionally, when someone replies to a message you’ve filtered, the reply will only be filtered if it meets the same search criteria.
