Description:

Join us for the 2018 Commercial Poultry Grower Meeting at the Iredell County Center in Statesville NC. We will be covering topics such as Poultry Mortality Regulations, NCDA requirements for mortality disposal, up to date soil nutrient uptake research, EPA and CERCLA Updates, available cost share programs for poultry growers, and much more. This workshop is designed to provide growers with an overview of the requirements of the USDA Harmonized GAP Audit, discuss relevant food safety practices for produce farms, and share the resources available from NC State University to help you implement a food safety plan in your farm and become Harmonized GAP Certified.

10:00 am - 12:00 pm - For new growers unfamiliar with GAP certification and writing a food safety plan

12:00 pm - 12:45 pm - Lunch

12:45 pm - 3:30 pm - Outline of new Harmonized GAP requirements for both new growers and existing GAP certified farmers

A representative from USDA GAP auditors will be present during lunch and the afternoon session.

Description: Planting and maintaining gardens can attract desirable wildlife species as well as some unexpected wildlife. When wildlife help themselves to vegetables, dig tunnels through lawns, or disastrously prune ornamental plants, they can frustrate homeowners.

The 2-hour session will help attendees identify common wildlife pests and techniques to prevent and minimize damage. Participants will gain understanding of legal laws that regulate wildlife control measures.
