Hello everyone! My name is Abbie Joines. I am from Sparta, NC. I am so excited to announce that I will be the Alleghany Cooperative Center Intern this summer! I am a senior at NC State University, and I am studying Agricultural Science. I am also working on my NC Environmental Education Certification.

Alleghany 4-H WHEP Team- 2023 (Abbie Joines, Ethan Pardue, Coach Bryan Cassell, Brendan McClain, and Jackson Thompson)

I participated in the Alleghany 4-H program, and during my time as a 4-Her, I attended NC 4-H Congress and competed in the NC 4-H Presentation Competitions. In 2023, I won Gold at the state level for my presentation on Soil and Water Conservation. I also competed in the Wildlife Habitat Education Program competition, and my team attended the national competition in Milford, Iowa in 2023. Also, in 2023, I was inducted into the NC 4-H Honor Club! I have also played a volunteer role within Alleghany 4-H. I am the leader of a 4-H water education club that focuses on teaching 4-Hers about water and assessing water quality.

Alleghany 4-H River Otters- 2024 (Fern Dillard, Abbie Joines, Radley Dillard, Jesse Joines)

I am very grateful for my time as a 4-Her, and I feel that I have developed many valuable skills, such as public speaking, career readiness, and leadership.I look forward to applying the skills and knowledge that I learned during my time as an Alleghany 4-Her to the times when I will be working with the Alleghany 4-H program this summer!
