Eggcellent Egg Program
“The Egg-cellent Egg Contest is a fun competition for youth with a flock of chickens that are currently laying eggs. As part of the program, youth will submit up to 2 sets of 6 (half dozen) eggs in different categories, which will be judged for uniformity, exterior and interior quality. Participants will also complete supplemental project components based on their age which is part of their final score.
The contest is $15 and is open to youth who have a flock of laying hens currently laying. Youth will be able to register using the link below and will have to send a check or money order to the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Hoke County Center (all of this is noted in the registration form).
The whole contest is virtual and there is a Google site that houses all of the information you will need. A link to the Google site will be sent to participants once registration is over. There are two mandatory trainings the participants must attend which will be presented through Zoom.

Important dates:

  • August 2nd – Registration Ends
  • August 6th at 5:30 p.m. – Initial Training via Zoom – Zoom link will be sent before the training
  • August 22nd – Egg-citing, In Depth Egg Training- Zoom link will be sent before the training
  • August 23rd – Registration fee is due to the Hoke County Office
  • September 18th – Eggs & supplemental portion submissions due
  • October 3rd at 5:30 p.m. – Winners announced on Zoom
