WHEP (Wildlife Habitat Evaluation Program) teams are now forming for 2023. WHEP is open to youth ages 9+. Cloverbuds ages 5+ are welcome but are non-competitive (age as of January 1, 2023). You will learn about and participate in 4 categories working with wildlife including: wildlife identification, wildlife foods, wildlife habitat management, aerial photograph habitat interpretation.
We will begin weekly practices Wednesday 2/15/23 from 4 pm - 6 pm. Youth are welcome to come to the office immediately after school. Snacks will be provided.
We will meet weekly to help get teams ready for competition. Some self study will be required. All materials will be provided. First timers are welcome. You do not have to have any prior knowledge of WHEP to join the team. Contact the office with questions @ 336-372-5597.

Competition will be May 6, 2023, at PeeDee National Wildlife Refuge in Anson County. The first place senior team will have the opportunity to represent North Carolina at the National WHEP Invitational (location TBA).
